DATELINE SAIGON

New York Times reporter David Halberstam says when the government's twisting the truth, reporters have their biggest role to play. The new film DATELINE – SAIGON explores that idea through the work of Halberstam and four Pulitzer-prize winning journalists known as the "Saigon Boys." Young reporters in the early days of the Vietnam War, they were soon at odds with the Kennedy White House, and their work landed them on South Vietnamese assassination lists. Filmmaker Thomas Herman says though that their work ushered in an era of journalism aimed at holding the government accountable.
